About Nathan
Nathan trained in fine furniture making at the renowned Williams & Cleal school in the Quantock Hills in South West England. He launched Nathan Harrison Furniture in 2026.
Before becoming a maker, Nathan spent twenty years producing and directing documentaries, primarily for the BBC and Channel 4.
His previous career took him around the world several times, where he had the privilege of working alongside some of Britain's best-known broadcasters and personalities, including Jon Snow and Tom Kerridge. However, after starting a family, the appeal of constant travel began to wane. He also found himself increasingly drawn to creating something more enduring than television programmes, which often disappear from view soon after broadcast.
Looking for a more lasting and hands-on craft, Nathan returned to making, a passion first discovered in his youth. Today, he brings the same creativity, attention to detail, and dedication to craftsmanship and furniture making as he did to storytelling on screen.
Nathan crafts contemporary freestanding and fitted furniture, designed to enhance the space it occuppies, and constructed to last for generations.

Nathan has a workspace at Hone, a community of makers with shared machinery, in North Bristol.

Wherever possible, we use locally sourced British hardwoods from responsibly managed woodlands, reducing transport miles while supporting local suppliers and traditional forestry.

Every bespoke commission begins with a conversation. Taking the time to understand your vision, lifestyle and the space your furniture will inhabit allows us to create something that is both beautiful and deeply personal.
Where possible, we prefer to meet at your home or project location. This gives us the opportunity to discuss the setting, proportions, materials, functionality and budget, while exploring ideas together. We will also bring examples of previous work and a selection of timber samples to help inspire the design. We are equally comfortable working directly with you or collaborating with your architect or interior designer.
Once we have established a clear brief, we begin the design process.
Working to an agreed timescale, we develop a series of initial concepts that reflect your requirements and aesthetic preferences. These ideas can be reviewed together or at your leisure before being refined through further discussion.
The final design may be presented as hand-rendered sketches, detailed technical drawings, digital visualisations or scale models, depending on the nature of the project. This collaborative stage ensures every detail has been carefully considered before making begins.
Once the design is approved, we prepare a detailed proposal outlining the specification, cost and timescale. A deposit secures your place in our workshop schedule, and the project moves into production.
With the design finalised, we carefully select each piece of timber, ensuring it complements both the design and the character of the finished piece. Every commission is then handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail using traditional craftsmanship alongside modern techniques.
We welcome clients to visit the workshop during the making process and see their furniture taking shape. Every project is personally overseen from start to finish, ensuring the highest standards are maintained throughout.
When complete, your furniture will be personally delivered and installed with the same care and attention that went into its creation. We also offer secure delivery and installation for clients throughout the UK and internationally.
