The frame of the table is constructed from an oak tree that grew Herefordshire Wildlife Trust land, that had been infected by the Beefsteak Fungus. The fungus causes brown rot in oak, giving the timber a rich colour known as brown oak, much sought after by furniture makers, and is a nod to the dark Welsh dresser that formed centrepiece of Nathan’s grandparent’s kitchen.

The drawer is made from Ash trees grown on the Duchy of Cornwall estate.

All of the wood was purchased from Woodland Heritage’s Whitney Sawmills.

And the top is made from a material called Solidwool, which uses sheep’s wool as reinforcement and bioresin as a binder. The wool is from Welsh Mountain sheep, a hardy breed that formed part of the Vron’s flock. the multicoloured white, grey-brown and black kemp reveals a distinctive veining throughout the composite. This creates a striking marbled effect, showcasing the unique layering of textures and tones found in this incredible wool.

The table is finished with matt Osmo Polyx Oil.

The Solidwool top is laminated onto birch plywood for strength and weight, and is framed with mitred oak lippings.

The drawer has handcut dovetail joints and the wood grain flows across the entire front of the piece.

The table features a lower rack for hats, bags and shoes, made from oak dowels held in place by a hand shaped frame.
