This table was designed to sit beside and complement a Finn Juhl Poet sofa, in an exquisite master bedroom of a modern house in the Scottish highlands.

Taking cues from the fluid curves of the sofa, the table is oval in shape and the surface is recessed to create a tray-like aesthetic.

The table features hand turned tapered legs within concave shoulders. The curved diagonal rails are fastened to the legs with wedged through tenons.

Rippled sycamore was chosen to complement the white washed Dinesen douglas fir floorboard, and as a nod to two stunning sycamore trees that stand prominently outside the kitchen window.

The table appears light due to the rounder underside, but at 30mm thick its heavy and remains in confidently in place.
